2016 was a blur for The Loft. From our official opening on June 4, to December 31, we hosted an even 70 events. 36 of those were weddings. It was humbling to be a part of so many couples' big days.
This is currently a fun time for The Loft. We finally have a chance to catch our breath during this slower period, before the whirlwind of 2017's 68 happily-ever-afters hits us. (Ask us tomorrow, and that number is probably larger. Eek!)
This winter, we are devoting our time and energy to a cause that's pretty important to us. If you're from the Bucyrus area, you've probably heard, "There's nothing to do in this town." However, by human nature, we're designed to connect with others in community. Whether catching up with your coworkers over a cup of coffee in the office, or sitting down for a meal with your family, or shooting a text to a friend, life is better when you share it with others. Unfortunately, a plight that plagues many small towns, ours included, is the lack of opportunities to socialize.
Well, we're setting out to change that. This winter, we're hosting several events to provide ways for our friends and neighbors to join together in fun, upbeat, social settings. Click on the links below to find more information on the Facebook event pages. (Even if you're not a Facebook user!)
January 21 | February 11 | March 4
Dust off your dancing shoes and join us this winter for Barn Dances at The Loft! Sonix Soundz DJ will provide tunes: square dancing, line dancing, and more. Never line danced? We'll have people on hand to lead the dances and help you master the moves. $5 per person at the door. Snacks and drinks available for purchase. Grab some friends and beat the winter blues at The Loft!
If it has to do with a wedding, bridal shower, or other special event, purchase a table for $25 and sell it! Everything from centerpieces to signs to flowers to jewelry and accessories will be popular with buyers. As you start looking through your closets, you probably have more items than you think that you could part with. The great thing about this event is that items that you’re no longer using can find a new home with someone else! This event will also feature prom and formal dresses by consignment.
Join us for a special day as we celebrate grace-filled women. Connect with others as you learn the importance of living an authentic life. You will be filled with love and laughter as you hear from a renowned speaker and raise voices in worship. Women of all ages and stages of life are sure to enjoy. Grab some friends! You won’t want to miss this event.
Let us help clear your closets! Mark your calendar for our first-ever mom-to-mom resale event. Price your kids' clothes, toys, gear, books, etc. however you want, and you keep all proceeds from your table. Tables are $25 each, and we'll do the marketing for you. Free admission for shoppers.
We are excited to bring these events to our area. We need your help, though! These events are only a success if people show up! Will you help us get the word out? Here are some specific ways you can help us bring people together in a sense of community.
Click the links above with each event to go to the Facebook page. RSVP on Facebook. Every time someone responds, some of his friends see the event.
2. Better yet, share the event to your own Facebook and other social media pages! That way, your friends will hear about the event if they haven't already.
3. Facebook doesn't beat good old word of mouth! Shoot a text or email, or pick up the phone and call your friends and family to let them know what's going on in Bucyrus.
4. Make plans to attend one or more of the events! The dances are seriously for all ages and skill levels. There's no reason you shouldn't be there! Come out to enjoy socializing with your neighbors. Know some teenage girls? Pick them up and bring them to look at dresses at Second Life. Call your friends and invite them to join you at Clothed in Strength and Dignity. Check out Mama Mia and pick up a new toy or outfit for a child in your life.
The definition of community is "a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals." Let's work this winter on strengthening our community by joining in together, getting to know our neighbors, and helping to make our area even better.
See you at The Loft,
