I’m not one to wish away time. Being the mother of three boys, the usual cry of my heart is for it all to slow down. But lately I can hardly wait for the months following October and the close of The Market to get here. (And not just because I need a nap. Alright, maybe it’s that, but it is also the perfect time to regroup and reflect.)
We launched two major parts of The Pickwick Place on June 1st - The Loft and The Market. The pace to meet the deadline was fast and furious. We had no choice but to get on with it, even though there were a few things that felt unfinished. Some components were omitted due to the drained bank account, and some were due to time constraints. Living with the incomplete vision has been an exercise in discipline.
The past couple of weeks I’ve been busy making a list. The intention is to be better than before. I’ve been walking around Pickwick looking for any opportunity to improve. There’s a list of some obvious needs, such as a painted curb in front of The Market, changing tables in the restrooms, and better signage everywhere. Then there’s a list of some wants that includes beautiful landscaping, cupulas on the barns, and stretches of white fence (all of which will require more patience on my part.) Finally, there’s a list of what our valued customers would like to see. We’ve been listening and we would like to hear more. We welcome suggestions on products to carry in the market, ways to improve the events, insights from the field trips or family activities, and ideas for additions to The Pickwick Place.
You will find a link to an anonymous survey where you can provide us with that feedback. There will also be a mailbox inside The Market where you can jot down and leave your thoughts. I say bring on November! I’m ready to recharge, reflect, and regroup. Our team will cast a vision for the next phase and then work hard over the winter so we can emerge in the spring and be better than before. I can hardly wait!
Forward motion always,
